Here are our specialists’ tips and tricks to help you pack efficiently.
1) Keep it wrinkle-free
Roll your tops and pants instead of folding them. You could also use storage bags to divide your clothes into compartments and make them easier to find.
2) Get the most out of your space
Roll up your socks and place them in your shoes.
3) Don’t bring too much
You can always buy what you need at destination or wash your clothes on the spot. If you plan to wash your clothes, remember to bring travel-sized laundry soap and a laundry bag.
4) Say no to dirt
Bring shoe bags to separate them from your clean clothes. You can also cover the bottom of your shoes with a shower cap. Bags for your clothes could also prove to be very useful.
5) Suck the air out
Pack sweaters and other bulky clothing in vacuum-sealed storage bags.
6) Make use of every corner
Tuck your underwear and swimwear into the gaps left by your larger items.
7) Keep it chic
Place formal outfits, such as dresses, suits and ensembles, on hangers and place them on top of other clothing before closing the suitcase.
8) Think ahead
Bring empty tote bags or pouches for souvenirs.
9) Organize your jewelry
Keep smaller jewelry items like rings in a pill container and hang earrings on buttons to keep pairs together.
10) Comply with the regulations in force
When flying, be sure to inquire about what you can and cannot carry in your checked and carry-on luggage. Also, see our advice on carry-on luggage.
11) Don’t lose the wire
Store chargers and headphones inside a glasses case or other holder to prevent them from becoming entangled.
12) Keep the essentials within reach
Keep your medication and ID with you or in your carry-on luggage, and not in your checked luggage.
13) Prevent spills
Try adding a liner to your toiletry bag. You never know!
